Łabandzi Śpiew "The album is filled with piano music >>with influences from Post-Rock, Progressive, Minimalist music<<. Those influences are also tangible in the omnipresent samples from movie dialogues and the choice of the sources is not super obvious" ENGLISH: bit.ly/2Shxg5t Favorite track: The Soldiers of an Endless Eclipse.

Bruce Wayne / Batman: "Why didn't you just kill me?" Bane: "You don't fear death. You welcome it. Your punishment must be more severe." Bruce Wayne / Batman: "Torture?" Bane: "Yes. But not of your body, of your soul." Bruce Wayne / Batman: "Where am I?" Bane: "Home, where I learned the truth about despair, as will you. There's a reason why this prison is the worst hell on earth. Hope. Every man who has rotted here over the centuries has looked up to the light and imagined climbing to freedom. So easy. So simple. And like shipwrecked men turning to sea water from uncontrollable thirst, many have died trying. I learned here that there can be no true despair without hope. So, as I terrorize Gotham, I will feed its people hope to poison their souls. I will let them believe they can survive so that you can watch them clamoring over each other to stay in the sun.

Justine: "The earth is evil. We don't need to grieve for it." Claire: "What?" Justine: "Nobody will miss it." Claire: "But where would Leo grow?" Justine: "All I know is, life on earth is evil." Claire: "Then maybe life's somewhere else." Justine: "But there isn't." Claire: "How do you know?" Justine: "Because I know things." Claire: "Oh yes, you always imagined you did." Justine: "I know we're alone." Claire: "I don't think you know that at all." Justine: "678. The bean lottery. Nobody guessed the amount of beans in the bottle." Claire: "No, that's right." Justine: "But I know. 678." Claire: "Well, perhaps. But what does that prove?" Justine: "That I know things. And when I say we're alone, we're alone. Life is only on earth, and not for long."
4.
Eli: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me." Eli: "Cursed be the ground for our sake. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for us. For out of the ground we were taken, for the dust we are and to the dust we shall return."
5.
Dr. Dealgood: "This is the truth of it! Fighting leads to killing. And killing leads to warring! And that was damn near the death of us all. Look at us now! Busted up and everyone talking about hard rain. But we've learned by the dust of them all, Bartertowns learned. Now when men get to fighting, it happens here... and it finishes here! Two men enter... one man leaves." Crowd: "Two men enter! One man leaves! Two men enter! One man leaves!"
6.
Rufus Scrimgeour [Harry Potter]: "These are dark times, there is no denying. Our world has perhaps faced no greater threat than it does today. But I say this to our citizenry. We, ever your servants, will continue to defend your liberty and repel the forces that seek to take it from you! Your Ministry remains, strong." The Jewish barber, in the shoes of Hynkel [The Great Dictator]: "To those who can hear me, I say - do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish. Soldiers! don’t give yourselves to brutes - men who despise you - enslave you - who regiment your lives - tell you what to do - what to think and what to feel! Who drill you - diet you - treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate - the unloved and the unnatural! Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” - not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power - the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then - in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work - that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world - to do away with national barriers - to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness. Soldiers! in the name of democracy, let us all unite!"

about

'In an Ocean of Shipwrecks' was composed, played, recorded, mixed and mastered at home by Echoes of the Soul between March and October 2018 in Lyon (France).

All piano and MIDI viola parts made with my Yamaha P-115 (digital piano). Various samples has been used, whose movie ones taken from The Dark Knight Rises, Melancholia, The Book of Eli, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1) and The Great Dictator. Artwork and original photo by myself.

This album is about all the violence and the sadness that we all, humans, cause and experience amongst the other beings, on Earth. It invites at the heart of different scenes that tell one thing from different points of view: our relations to the reality of an environmental decline.

about

Echoes of the Soul Lyon, France

Created in 2013, Echoes Of The Soul is a solo piano-based project with modern influences, with which I evolve as an independant self-taught artist.

If freedom is a path, I would like to cross it forever to evolve by myself in my compositions, my playing and my style.

Welcome!
